I, Susan Aldridge, am not related except thru Sarah Leona Meadows, wife of Isham Meadows of Dadeville, Tallapoosa AL- a cousin. But this seemed to be a last twig of a branch and I wanted to preserve it. He and his wife lost all their children except for Leola. Seven out of eight died, which I do think is odd. So some information is missing on this family. Hints, corrections or contributions would be welcome!
Since the children of Capt Meadows and his wife Mary Jane Johnston all died young except for Leola, she is the last remaining twig in that family. Does anyone have info on her. Here is what I have about the family- I found it on internet. Since marrying at age 14 and 15 was accepted back then- why is it against the law now? We are all descended from these marriages and wouldnt exist without these unions.

"Searching for information on John Johnston/Johnson, b. 1803. Land record in 1828 Harris Co. states that he was from Wilkes Co. Had sister, Levinia that married Stephen Hudgins in 1818 (Lincoln Co.) and in 1825 she married Seaborn Golden, also in Lincoln Co. You mention John Johnson's first wife as being Martha Lyon. There is no proof of this although I believe Martha's name was Lyon. 1st Wife ????. I believe that John may have been married several times. He married Mary Ann Haynie 6 weeks after Martha's death. I also believe that Mary Ann was a distant relative.
John Johnson sold land Nov. 1828 in Harris Co. for Martha Lyon that she had recieved in the 1827 Land Lottery in Lincoln Co. I believe that this Martha Lyon first married Shadrack Floyd before 1824. She is named in her father, Edmund Lyon's Will as Mary Floyd- but he 2 daughters he names Mary- Mary Lyon and Mary Floyd. Mary Floyd must be Mary Martha Ann Floyd. One John P. Johnson married Martha Ann Floyd, Dec. 10, 1837 in Coweta Co. There are two other marriages for a John P. Johnson. One in Wilkes Co (where John was from) to a Prudence Irvin in 1824 another marriage record for one John P. Johnson is to a Celia A.B. Haines 30 July 1835 in Coweta Co.

Mary Jane Johnston was the daughter of first wife Martha Ann (Lyon?) and
her husband John Johnston who had moved to AL from Ga about 1838. Mary
Janes mother Martha Ann (Marthy Ann) was born January 1809 and died on 6
July 1844 when Mary Jane was 10 years old. She is buried in the same
graveyard (John Johnston Cemetery) as her daughter Mary Jane. Mary Janes
father John remarried a month later in August 1844.
Mary Jane s father established a large plantation at Walnut Hill. Many of the family are buried in the family cemetery at Walnut Hill.
John Young Johnston Sr. was a wealthy planter who lived in the Walnut Hill area of Tallapoosa county, Alabama from about 1838/1839 until his death in 1881. He is buried in a private cemetery located in T 20 N, R 22 E, Section 28, Tallapoosa County, Alabama, once a part of John's plantation. John was born Feburary 10, 1803, in Georgia. He married Mary Martha Ann. Martha's maiden name may have been Lyon- daughter of Edmund F. Lyon and Mary Martha Ware from the Garrett family (2nd wife Nancy Hester?) sometime after 1828 and probably on 10 December 1837 in Coweta Ga when a Martha Ann Floyd married John P. Johnson. Her father Edmund F. Lyon had mentioned her in his will as Mary Floyd. A land indenture in Harris County, Georgia, dated Nov. 8, 1828, has John Johnston of Wilkes County, Georgia, selling land in Troup County, Georgia, to a Lloyd Cooper of Harris County, Georgia, for the sum of six hundred dollars. This land lying and being in the County of Troup, Fourth District, third section known as No. one hundred seventy (170) was granted to Martha Lyon the 3rd day of November 1828. She was listed as a minor. Filed in Clerks Office of Superior Court 13th of April 1829. Signed John (his mark) Johnston. Witnesses: William Johnston, J.B. Johnston, James Cooper, George F. Buckhamon. The above mentioned land in Troup Co., Georgia was drawn in the, 1827 Georgia Land Lottery, by Martha Lyon, minor, of Wilkes Co., Georgia For John to have been able to sell this land five days after it was granted to Martha Lyon it may have been part of her dowery. John's first child, William, was born June 12, 1828, in Georgia before Martha was being listed as a Martha Lyon. John and family are on the 1830 Census of Harris County, Georgia. While in Harris County, he had four more children; Joseph, born 1830, John Young, born July 18, 1832, Mary Jane, born March 21, 1834 and Samuel Young, born April 1, 1836. Martha died in 1844 and John Johnston remarried the next month to Mary Ann C. Haynie who was about 20 years younger than his he. "1850 census
